FAQ on Tumblr: FORMALS

I've been recently been asked a lot af questions about formals about makeup, dresses etc.
So I decided to answer them on here.
MAKEUP
Should I get my makeup professionally done?
This is entirely up to you, if you think you can do your makeup by yourself then make sure you practice! Get help from blogs and youtube tutorials. If you get your makeup professionally done, there is a risk it might not turn out the way you want it; this usually means the eye makeup, as the rest of the makeup usually turns out okay however your eye makeup can change your whole look.
If you want to get it professionally done you could find looks on celebrities or models and print them out for the makeup artist so they may get a better idea of the look your going for instead of just describing it yourself.
Having said that I got my makeup done by Inglot and they did a amazing job my makeup lasted me all night from dancing etc. The only touch up I did was my lipstick. Instead of printing off looks, I told the makeup artist my dress colour and the look I was going for (I told her I wanted a natural look).
PROS of getting it done professionally is that you usually can get products back with your money spent.
Places I've heard that are good for makeup for formals (in AUSTRALIA in particular MELBOURNE) are:
MAC, Inglot, Napoleon Perdis, Mecca Cosmetica and Kit Cosmetics.

What foundation should I use for my formal?
Use a foundation with no SPF so it does not flash back in photography. MAC, NARS and Smashbox have some great foundations, do a lot of research when doing your makeup as you don't want to look back in photos and think "god what was I thinking?";)

How do you get your makeup to stay on all day/night?
Use a long lasting powder with no SPF, however if you have dry skin you may not need if you find your makeup doesn't budge usually.
OR I RECOMMEND a finishing spray such as the Urban Decay de slick, Skindinavia Makeup Finishing Spray or MAC has a finishing spray.

DRESSES
Where can I buy formal dresses?
David Jones and Myer have a great range of dresses from all price rangesSwishPilgrim and ASOS have heaps of great cheap but classy looking dresses. Dont forget to look at individual boutiques/stores that may not have a website :)

Should I buy a long or short dress?
This is up to you no matter what everyone else thinks (unless your school has a rule to wear a certain one then follow that one ;p), pick the one you WANT or the one you feel the most COMFORTABLE.

amfAR Inspiration Gala - Candice Swanepoel

I am loving Candice's new hair, reminds me of when Abbey Lee Kershaw dyed her hair bleach/platinum blond, personally I think it does look great with fair skin tone some argue it washes them out.
